Taiwan Ruby 18? Never heard of it? This is a fairly new type of tea that has had over 40 years development by the Taiwanese Tea Institute. To create a unique flavour Ruby 18 is a hybrid of local Taiwanese bushes and Assam bushes from India.
It produces a rich flavour that has hints of cinnamon, mint and a little anise – best drunk black to fully appreciate the complexity of this tea. That said if brewed longer it can definitely handle a drop or two of milk – with no tannin flavour in sight it’s easy to get a good strong cup out of these tender leaves.
